Testimonies from RU... My name is Allen Perry, I'm an ex drug addict. About seven months ago, I came through the doors of Reformers Unanimous, broken and beaten down. In fact, I was slowly committing suicide. My first week in RU, all I could think was, "These people are crazy." I thought to myself, "There is no way I will ever be able to do all this stuff." My second week back to RU, something happened. God started working on me. Later that night, I made the decision to accept Jesus Christ into my heart and devoted my life to Him. I'm here to tell you that with the help of the Lord Jesus Christ, you can overcome anything! Before I found God, I tried many secular programs, but nothing seemed to work. I was always taught in the past that "once an addict, always an addict". Boy were they wrong! See, what the Bible tells ME in 2 Corinthians 5:17 is, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away, behold all things are become new." Amen to that! I'm here as a witness to tell you that if you are struggling with an addiction or a stubborn habit, please give Reformers Unanimous a try. Because once you find Jesus and accept Him into your life, you can be set free from your strongholds FOREVER... if you want to be. Listen, if you want to get high, get high on Jesus and leave all that other stuff alone. He is the best high in the world. - Allen Perry, 3/4/09 Hi, my name is Shamus Watts. I spent fifteen long years in drug addiction. I felt as if there was no hope. I tried secular programs to no avail. I found through the teachings of Reformers Unanimous that only the truth makes free. What this means to me is that by confessing with my mouth that I believe in Jesus Christ and what he did on Calvary for all sinners, that I will be saved. Today I'm saved from the sins of this world. I no longer have to dwell on my past because that man is dead. I am a new person in Christ. The people at RU taught me how to love and how to be loved. They make me accountable for my actions through sound Biblical teachings. I praise GOD every day for everything he is doing in my life and in the lives of those around me. May the glory be to GOD. - Shamus Watts, 4/19/08 It's become one of my greatest passions, being involved with and helping in the Reformers Unanimous program here at Grand Strand. I've seen the Lord work mightily in the hearts of those who participate, mine included. When Pastor first began talking about bringing RU to our church, I agreed that it was a much-needed area of ministry, but I personally wanted no part of it. I didn't want to "dirty my hands" with those whose lives were messed up, because of drug or alcohol addictions. I'd seen and been through too much of that, to dare go down that road again. But through Pastor's deep burden then, and through Ben Burks coming to our church to share with us how this program changes lives, the Lord began to work on me. He showed me that "these folks" are the same as me... no matter what addiction or stronghold they might be struggling with. The same grace God extended to me, He also extends to them. We all fall short, and we all make bad choices at some time in our lives, so how can we possibly look down on others for having done the same?? Now, I'm thrilled to be serving in this ministry, and I've grown to love and each every one who comes to us for help. After all, that's what Christ called us to do. "A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." - John 13:34 - Lois Clardy, 10/17/07 We've seen many hurting souls journey our way through Reformers Unanimous and have had the privilege to lead them to the Lord, the first step in being free from the bondages of addiction of any kind! On Friday nights, our friends and family are eating out and going to ballgames, shopping, and heading out of town while Mike and I are headed to Reformers Unanimous with great excitement and anticipation of what God has in store for us that evening. Our primary concern is to be used to be a blessing to someone and WE end up receiving the blessing by the end of the evening. Our RU leadership team and students are our family in Christ, a tightly bound group of faithful believers who want more than anything in the world to help others know the joy of being FREE from satan's strongholds through the shed blood of Jesus Christ! Our walk with the Lord has strengthened in such a marvelous way through reading the Word of God and journaling each morning before jumping into the business of the day. The challenges and rewards set up in the program help our students to grow in their walk with the Lord as they hide His Word in their hearts, which helps them resist the temptations from the evils of the world, i.e. drugs, alcohol, pornography, overeating, gambling, etc. - Pam Datlof, 10/7/07 I never dreamed when I started working in RUI that it would have such a big impact on me. I have been a Christian for fifty-six years, and this is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. It is so exciting to see the power of God transforming lives before your very eyes. I dearly love all the people who participate, and I thank God for allowing me to do my meager part in this ministry. My prayer is that others will have the desire to help, so they can share the joy of those who have been made whole through Christ. God is working! Hallelujah! - Jan Burkart, 10/3/07 From anything and everything that isn't of Him, He wants us to be set free! And that's our goal here. R U Set Free? |
